The Future of Cooling
Emissiv is developing transparent radiative cooling coatings that harness the power of deep space
The Cooling Paradox
Global warming is the defining challenge of our time. Yet as temperatures rise, we use more energy to cool, emit more greenhouse gases, worsen the urban heat island effect, and fuel a vicious heating cycle.
Cooling now accounts for 10% of global electricity use — a figure the IEA projects to double by 2050. With 2024 being the hottest year on record, we urgently need to rethink how we cool.
We believe the solution is not about more complex machines, but instead one that utilises passive cooling. Inspired by how ancient civilisations used to make ice in the desert, Emissiv is applying radiative cooling principles to modern materials science to design a multifunctional coating that redefines how we keep cool.
